Steps to Configure Phone Message Alerts

  1. Go to the Business Details page.
  2. In the Phone Message Alert Configuration section, select the Phone Message Alert Type (ring tone) from the list of options.

    Polycom VVX Short trill
    Verge WE Hold/park reminder tone, repeated once every 60 seconds

  3. Select a Phone Message Alert Duration. This defines the duration in minutes of the:
    • Message display on Polycom VVX phones
    • Audible alert on supported Mitel and Verge WE phones
    Verge WE phone users cannot cancel the audible alert. If you configure a Normal or Priority ring type, the alert will sound once every 60 seconds for the full duration.
  4. In the Extensions section, select the emergency call alert recipients by moving the user or location extensions from Available to Selected:
    • To select a single extension, click the + symbol associated with the extension.
    • To select all extensions, click Add all.
    • To deselect a single extension, click the symbol associated with the extension.
    • To deselect all extensions, click Remove all.
  5. Click Save.

When a subscriber within the same tenant dials an emergency class of service, the system sends an instant message with the call details to the list of defined users and locations.

Only logged-in phones display message alerts.

Phone alert messages work differently for different types of phones.

Phone type Audible alert Message display
Supported Mitel phones
  • Automatically stops after the number of minutes configured for the Duration
  • Can be manually stopped when the recipient interacts with the phone (presses a button, for example)
  • If message is over 20 characters, recipient user can scroll using UP and DOWN keys
  • Message cleared when recipient user uses QUIT key
  • Mesage cleared when the recipient interacts with the phone
Verge WE phones
  • Cannot be manually stopped
  • For a Normal or Priority ring type, the alert sounds once every 60 seconds for the full duration that you configured
Cleared when the recipient interacts with the phone
Polycom VVX phones
  • Cannot be manually stopped
  • The audible alert is a short trill that stops on its own
  • Clears on its own after the number of minutes configured for the Duration
  • Can be manually cleared when the recipient interacts with the phone or receives a call or another message
